Kryptonians and Czarnians Collide in DC’s Superman vs. Lobo Miniseries

Superman and Lobo are all that’s left of their respective homeworlds, but they’ve rarely been able to see eye to eye on anything. This summer, their decades-old rivalry will reach a new boiling point in a new three-issue miniseries from DC’s Black Label imprint. DC has announced the details for Superman vs. Lobo, which launches in August.

The series comes from co-writers Tim Seeley and Sarah Beattie, who previously collaborated on Vault Comics’ Money Shot. For this project, they’re teaming up with DC’s Punchline artist, Mirka Andolfo. The story kicks off with the title characters attracting the ire of a god named Numen, who is described as “the most popular being in the universe” and happens to dominate all social media channels. Numen doesn’t appreciate all of the attention given to Superman and Lobo, but whatever he plans to do about it remains to be seen.

As if they didn’t already have enough on their plates, the characters will also meet Dr. Flik, a scientist who wants to study the last sons of Krypton and Czarnia. Given all they’re about to face, one might think a team-up between Superman and Lobo is in store. However, we won’t know if this is the case until the first issue drops. But because the series is hitting stands under the Black Label banner, we can probably assume that it’s not for the faint-hearted.

Superman vs. Lobo #1 arrives in comic shops on August 24. You can check out the cover for the first issue along with two pages of interior artwork in the gallery below.
