Danny DeVito Is Writing a Penguin Short Story For DC Comics

Back in 1992, Danny DeVito co-starred in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns as Oswald Cobblepot, a.k.a The Penguin. Now, nearly three decades later, DeVito is revisiting The Penguin by writing a new story.

Via Newsarama, DeVito is contributing a Penguin short story to Gotham City Villains Anniversary Giant #1. This special commemorates the 80th anniversary of Batman’s rogue’s gallery. And while not all of the villains have been around for eight decades, The Penguin actually does date back to Detective Comics #48 in 1941.

Detective Comics artist Dan Mora will collaborate with DeVito on the Penguin story. Some of the other creators also featured include writers G. Willow Wilson, Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Joshua Williamson, Stephanie Phillips, Dan Watters, and Mairghread Scott; alongside artists Emma Rios, Riccardo Federici, Max Raynor, Max Fiumara, Skylar Patridge, Ariela Kristantina, Khary Randolph, Jill Thompson, Christian Ward, Gabriel Walta. Wes Craig is also writing and drawing his contribution to the book.
