Titan Will Publish New Conan the Barbarian Comics In 2023

Marvel was the first major publisher to produce Conan the Barbarian comics in 1970, and the House of Ideas gave Robert E. Howard’s iconic character a prominent place in their universe. In 2018, after a long absence, Marvel regained the rights to Conan and even made him a leading character in Savage Avengers. However, Conan’s return to Marvel is coming to an end this year. And now, Titan Comics has announced that it will pick up the Conan license in 2023.

Titan will team with Heroic Signatures to co-publish a new ongoing Conan the Barbarian series in spring 2023. At the moment, no creative team is attached to the comic book. Regardless, Titan Comics has revealed that its plans include other Howard characters including Solomon Kane and Dark Agnes. The publisher will also continue to release Marvel’s classic Conan comics in omnibus editions at a later date.

Heroic Signatures had originally planned to publish the new series by itself. But the company ultimately went with Titan because it was already publishing new and classic Conan the Barbarian novels.

“We have been working with Titan for a year on the prose side and established a good foundation for expanding our business together,” said Heroic Signatures President Fredrik Malmberg in a statement. “When it became clear that Heroic Signatures would publish our own comics it was natural to partner with a team that we have known for decades. Their expertise in publishing is stellar and we couldn’t be more excited to launch a barbarian horde of titles like Conan, Solomon Kane, Dark Agnes, and many more together.”

Titan Comics co-publishers Vivian Cheung and Nick Landau also shared a joint statement of their own:

“Following on from the Conan fiction and illustrated books Titan Books is publishing this year with Heroic Signatures, we are very excited to be extending our relationship with our longstanding colleagues, Fred and Jay and their incredible team, to include Comics, Graphic Novels and Archive Editions through Titan Comics, for all the Robert E Howard properties which we will be launching in 2023.”

Conan the Barbarian #1 will be released in May 2023.
