Marvel has announced that a new Superior Spider-Man comic series will be released this year as well as the person who is set to write it.
Who will write the new Superior Spider-Man?
Dan Slott, who wrote the original run, will return to the idea with The Superior Spider-Man this fall. Little other detail was provided for the run, though the announcement tweet promises that more information will be “swinging in soon.”
Superior Spider-Man first began in 2013 and was made by Dan Slott and Ryan Stegman. The series followed Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus after the villain switched minds with Peter Parker. As Parker died in Octavius’ body, Doc Ock set out to prove he could be a better Spider-Man than Peter and implemented new and more intense tactics while fighting crime.
The run was controversial, though fan reception towards it has somewhat warmed over the years. Octavius’ Spider-Man has since appeared in crossover comics like Spider-Verse and Spider-Geddon and could briefly be seen as a cameo in the recent animated sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse amongst several other Spider-Men.
