Marvel Comics has announced “Deadly Foes,” a new variant cover series from artist David Bardin that highlights some of the House of Ideas’ most iconic rogues’ galleries.
Throughout next year, Bardin’s Deadly Foes Variant Covers will adorn Marvel’s new Giant-Size one-shots — starting with January’s Giant-Size Spider-Man #1 by Cody Ziglar and Iban Coello. Marvel has also revealed Bardin’s variants for Giant-Size Hulk #1, Giant-Size X-Men #1, and Giant-Size Daredevil #1 (all three of which currently lack release dates). The publisher will announce additional one-shots — and reveal more Deadly Foes covers — at a later time. Each variant features its comic’s eponymous hero (or heroes) alongside their most notorious adversaries.

Spider-Man kicks off Marvel’s Giant-Size Celebration
The new one-shots celebrate 50 years of Marvel’s Giant-Size line of comics. Giant-Size Spider-Man #1 in particular proves the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, with Dylan Brock/Venom coming to blows with Miles Morales/Spider-Man. In addition to this new story from Ziglar and Coello, the massive issue reprints 2013’s Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man #22 by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli.
Giant-Size Spider-Man goes on sale January 10, 2024 from Marvel Comics. The issue features a main cover by Bryan Hitch.
