Exclusive: The Man From Maybe Reaches Its Grand Finale in Issue #3 Preview

Oni Press has revealed a look inside the third and final issue of Jordan Thomas and Shaky Kane’s The Man From Maybe.

At this time, SuperHeroHype can reveal an exclusive excerpt from The Man From Maybe #3 — which hits comic shops next month. In the final issue, “The Man From Maybe and his compadres have tracked the world-ending threat-Heart of the Purple Claw-to a cesspool that passes for a city: the Skinless Citadel … Surrounded on all sides by infected reavers and scavengers, with billionaire madman Harvard Denny bearing down on them in his own twisted version of the Enola Gay, our heroes do their best to stay alive in an increasingly inhospitable environment.”

The Man From Maybe depicts a post-modern post-apocalypse

Oni Press announced The Man From Maybe this past July ahead of the series’ debut in October. Thomas and Kane’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi western pits its titular hero against Harvard Denny — an “Oppenheimer-obsessed billionaire” whose corporate scavengers “pillage the wastelands in search of atomic contraband.”

“In this jaded and self-serious era, it’s so rare to find comics that positively pulsate with the joy of what comics do best,” Oni president and publisher Hunter Gorinson said when the book was announced. “Working from a script of non-stop swerves by Jordan Thomas — a legitimate mega-talent in the making — it’s no surprise that ONLY the legendary Shaky Kane could do THE MAN FROM MAYBE justice. Imagine Jack Kirby tackling an unauthorized adaptation of a long-lost science fiction novel written by Hunter S. Thompson on a dare, and you might begin to approximate this hyper-stylized, white-hot freefall through one of the ‘best worst’ futures ever committed to print.”

The Man From Maybe #3 goes on sale Wednesday, December 13 from Oni Press. The Final Order Cutoff date is Monday, November 20.
