DC and Legendary Comics have announced Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong: Monster-Sized Edition #1 — a special one-shot collecting the first two issues of the seven-part DC/MonsterVerse crossover series.
Per DC, Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong: Monster-Sized Edition #1 hits comic shops on January 16, 2024. The double-sized book combines Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #1 and #2 by Brian Buccellato and Christian Duce — which originally released on October 17 and November 21, respectively, and both sold out.

Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong continues
While the special edition doesn’t arrive until next month, Buccellato and Duce’s Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #3 hits stands in two weeks’ time on Tuesday, December 19. “Superman and Godzilla have gone head-to-head with devastating consequences in Metropolis as the Justice League scrambles to protect their homes from the monsters — Supergirl encounters Kong on Skull Island and Wonder Woman takes on Behemoth on Themyscira!” an official synopsis reads. “Lost in the monster mayhem, though, are Lex Luthor and his Legion of Doom… What nefarious connection do they have to everything?”

In the meantime, DC and Legendary have also put out special “Battle Roar Sound FX” variant covers for Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #1 and #2. These covers — which are on sale now — utilize sound chips to bring the distinctive roars of Godzilla and King Kong to comics. Check them out below:
Legendary and Warner Bros.’ MonsterVerse is ever expanding
Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong is currently running concurrently with Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters — the first live-action series in Legendary Pictures‘ MonsterVerse. A collaboration with Warner Bros. (which also owns DC), the MonsterVerse began in 2014 with director Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla. The film spawned a number of big-screen follow-ups — including Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021).
Up next for the MonsterVerse is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which hits theaters on April 12, 2024. Directed by Adam Wingard, the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, and more.
