2023 saw Dynamite Entertainment giving many beloved Disney characters a new life in comic book form. These included Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck. Now, Lilo and Stitch are joining the fun.
Lilo and Stitch tells the tale of Lilo Pelekai, a Hawaiian girl being raised by her older sister, Nani. She adopts a “dog,” whom she names Stitch, not knowing the creature is an alien engineered to cause chaos. Thankfully, Lilo’s lessons on the value of ʻohana (or found family) help turn Stitch from his intended purpose. The film inspired a direct-to-video-sequel and an animated television series.
The new comic from Dynamite continues where the series left off, with Lilo and Stitch settling into a peaceful life with their new ‘ohana. However, life is still far from easy, even without the Galactic Federation breathing down their necks. A new threat from beyond the stars seeks Stitch (aka Experiment 626) for their own sinister ends.
Those sinister ends involve a robot army powered by Stitch’s DNA. Unfortunately for their creator, the robots have yet to grasp the idea of destruction. This inspires him to seek out Stitch in the hopes that he can teach his robots how to behave properly. Can Stitch save his adopted family from this new threat?
