Skybound Entertainment has revealed a first look inside the upcoming second issue of its five-part G.I. Joe limited series Duke.
Written by Joshua Williamson, illustrated by Tom Reilly, and colored by Jordie Bellaire, Duke #2 arrives later this month as part of Skybound and Image Comics‘ Energon Universe. The issue features a main cover by Reilly, as well as variant covers by Ricardo Lopez Ortiz, Tyler Boss and Jason Wordie, Aco, and Nick Dragotta. At this time, Skybound has also shared four fully-lettered preview pages.

‘Codename: G.I. Joe’ continues in Duke #2
An official synopsis for Duke #2 reads as follows: “Codename: G.I. JOE continues! Conrad Hauser, AKA Duke, is on the run from the very government he trusted, investigating secrets that may be More Than Meets The Eye. Now, he’s about to meet the last person any G.I. Joe fan ever expected! Are they friend, foe, or in it for themselves?”
Duke launched last month as the first of four G.I. Joe limited series set within the Energon Universe. Up next is Cobra Commander — which itself launches with issue #1 on Wednesday, January 17. Skybound promises that these series will “set the stage for a fresh new take on G.I. JOE, Cobra and the iconic characters that you only think you know…”
Of course, Skybound and Image‘s Energon Universe is also home to Daniel Warren Johnson’s Transformers series — as well as Void Rivals by Robert Kirkman, Lorenzo De Felici and Matheus Lopes.
Duke #2 goes on sale Wednesday, January 31 from Image Comics.
