Marvel Comics has revealed Stanley “Artgerm” Lau’s variant cover for March’s Black Widow & Hawkeye #1.
Written by Stephanie Phillips and illustrated by Paolo Villanelli, Black Widow & Hawkeye #1 arrives this March as the first in a four-issue limited series celebrating the 60th anniversary of both Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow and Clint Barton/Hawkeye. Artgerm‘s variant cover shows Natasha sporting the costume she wore when she first onto the scene back in the 1960s.

What to expected from Black Widow & Hawkeye
An official synopsis for Black Widow & Hawkeye #1 reads as follows: “THE EYES OF A HAWK AND THE VENOM OF A WIDOW! Even when Black Widow and Hawkeye had no one to trust, they still had each other — even though their paths sometimes diverged. So when Clint Barton is accused of a rogue assassination attempt that puts the U.S. and Madripoor at odds, a symbiote-equipped Natasha Romanoff thinks nothing of coming to his aid. But as echoes of their past ripple into the present, it will take all their faith in each other — and the lessons learned along the way — to protect their futures.”
“I love getting the chance to dig deep with Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton to tell a fast-paced spy story that celebrates their 60th anniversary,” Phillips said. “Nothing is as it seems, and I’m having a ton of fun writing these characters. Not to mention they both look great for 60.”
Created by Stan Lee, Don Rico, and Don Heck, Natasha Romanova (aka Natasha Romanoff) first appeared in 1964’s Tales of Suspense #52. Clint Barton was created by Lee and Heck — and debuted later that same year in Tales of Suspense #57. In the six decades since, the two characters have remained key players in the Marvel Universe. Both have even gone on to great success in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Black Widow & Hawkeye #1 goes on sale Wednesday, March 13 from Marvel Comics. The issue features a main cover by Stephen Segovia.
