Building off the monthly Titans comic, Titans: Beast World is one of DC Comics‘ biggest events in years. The series finds Earth’s heroes tested as never before, fighting a multi-front war against alien cultists, Amanda Waller, and the sinister Chaos Lord called Doctor Hate. There is also the problem of Beast Boy transforming into a Starro, whose drones change people into rampaging beast-folk.
Written by Tom Taylor, with art by Ivan Reis, Lucas Meyer, and Eduardo Pansica, Titans: Beast World #6 opens with the previous issue’s stunning revelation. Doctor Hate is unmasked as the long-repressed dark side of Raven, further empowered through a helm crafted to counter Doctor Fate. This leaves Raven struggling to contain her dark doppelganger, as the rest of the Titans race to stop Amanda Waller from killing millions of innocents.

How Titans: Beast World Will Change DC’s Universe
Most comic book crossover events make hyperbolic claims about changing their universe forever. However, Titans: Beast World lives up to those claims. The series’ introduction of Doctor Hate is a prime example of this. While many stories have centered around Raven combatting her demonic heritage, the inclusion of the Chaos Lords adds a new wrinkle. Given how Titans confirmed Raven was more powerful than she let on, it makes sense the Chaos Lords would seek to counter her.
The series’ empowerment of Amanda Waller is another notable change. While the woman they call “the Wall,” has never trusted metahumans, she was once a reasonable authority figure. Reason seems to have left the party, however, with Waller how an Ahab figure determined to make Earth’s superheroes look bad by any means necessary. With Waller now operating openly through a new US Bureau of Sovereignty, the Wall is more dangerous than ever and will continue to be a threat for some time.
Titans: Beast World #6 arrives in comic book stores everywhere on January 30, 2024.
