Dandelion: Ms. Marvel Writer Sabir Pirzada Pens New Image Comics Anthology

Image Comics has officially unveiled Dandelion, a new climate-focused sci-fi graphic anthology from Ms. Marvel writer Sabir Pirzada.

Per Image, Dandelion arrives in bookstores on Tuesday, June 11 (and in comic shops on Wednesday, June 12). The trade paperback-format graphic novel teams writer Pirzada with a slew of both acclaimed and up-and-coming artists — including Martín Morazzo (Ice Cream Man), Vanesa R. Del Rey (Scarlet Witch, Redlands), Eric Koda (Ms. Marvel, Shang-Chi), Roy Allan Martinez (Zorro Swords of Hell), Gegê Schall (Made in Korea), Thomas Campi (Joe Shuster: The Artist Behind Superman), Adrian Rivero, Juha Veltti, and Marquis Rogers.

What is Dandelion about?

An official synopsis for the Image anthology reads as follows: “In Dandelion, when climate change and automation disrupt the lives of millions, a new civilization is formed in the skies — one that threatens the wealthy citizens who’ve been hoarding Earth’s meager resources for themselves.”

“It’s been a grand undertaking to gather some of the industry’s hottest artists, and build a shared continuity where they could take inspiration from one another in illustrating a wide range of genres that all add up to a larger world of speculative fiction with a mystery unfolding in the background: who is the founder of the Dandelion ship? We are excited to present a unique reading experience as can only exist in an anthology graphic novel format,” Pirzada said.

Pirzada previously co-wrote “Seeing Red,” the fourth episode of Marvel Studios’ Disney+ original series Ms. Marvel. He later teamed with Iman Vellani, the show’s star, to co-write the Marvel Comics limited series Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant. Next month, Pirzada and Vellani return for a follow-up series, Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace.

Dandelion goes on sale in June 2024 from Image Comics.
