Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #3 Introduces a New Villain – Meet ‘Little Joker’

DC has dished on the upcoming third and penultimate issue of Rafael Grampá’s Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham.

Per DC, Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #3 arrives in comic shops late this coming May. Thus far, Grampá’s DC Black Label series has already introduced a number of new villains to the DC multiverse — including Crytoon, MOTH-er, and The Virgin. Issue #3 promises another in the form of Crytoon’s “terrifying” new acquaintance, who will come to be known as “Little Joker.”

“Crytoon is a character that has very little to laugh about,” Grampá said. “In ‘Little Joker,’ he finally finds a twisted balance of evil in its purest form, and in the laughter of this sinister child.”

“Little Joker” stars on Grampá’s main cover art for Gargoyle of Gotham #3. The issue also features variant covers by Frank Quitely, Bilquis Evely, and Pedro Cobiaco. Additionally, DC has announced a special variant cover by Jamie Hewlett — co-creator of the popular digital band Gorillaz. Hewlett’s variant artwork will be available as both a standard portrait cover and a 1:25 wraparound cover.

What is Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #3 about?

According to DC, in Gargoyle of Gotham #3, “Batman‘s investigation takes him to the deadly lair of Doctorgeist — where his presence is not only expected … but welcomed. Batman will find help in a group of new heroes and their savage fight for the soul of Gotham — and for the soul of Bruce Wayne himself — will send shockwaves through the city from which it may never recover.”

Gargoyle of Gotham launched in September 2023. The four-part Black Label series takes place in an alternate reality where Batman stalks the streets of Gotham City on a full-time basis, having abandoned his life as Bruce Wayne. While pursuing a serial killer, the Dark Knight quickly discovers that all the victims are connected — not just to one another, but to him.

Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #3 goes on sale Tuesday, May 28 from DC.
