New Dynamite Originals Imprint Brings New Talent to Dynamite Entertainment

Dynamite Entertainment is famed for its handling of licensed properties. The publisher has seen big success in 2024 with their adaptations of various Warner Bros. and Disney characters. Now, Dynamite is establishing a new imprint, Dynamite Originals, to better promote unique visions and innovative collaborations. The new imprint is kicking off with a new anthology devoted to the publisher’s flagship character, Vampirella.

Titled Vampirella: Black, White & Blood!, the comics collection will unite some of the biggest comic creators from Italy and the United States. The project has Dynamite teaming with Arancia Studio, most famous internationally for superstar creator Mirka Andolfo. As the title suggests, the book will present three stories with monochromatic artwork offset with splashes of red.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled about this book,” Andolfo stated. “Vampirella is such an iconic character. I had the pleasure of drawing her before, but this is my first time writing her. And I really hope it’s not my last, because I had a lot of fun, also because I was surrounded by phenomenal creators!”

Dynamite Original’s Impressive Roster of Creators

Mirka Andolfo is only one of the talents recruited to kick off the Dynamite Originals line. She will be partnered with artist Greta Xella on the story “”Redefining Shadows.” Described as a “fascinating fable with a meta twist,” this story will team Vampirella with a group of female comic creators. Together, they will challenge the male dominated perspective of comics.

The second story, “Undercover,” will team writer Tim Seeley with artist Zulema Scotto Lavina. Framed for a series of murders, Vampirella must embed herself within a vicious gang of vampire hunters. She does this not only to clear her name but to protect her people from the trigger-happy slayers.

The final story in the first Dynamite Originals anthology is titled “The Ballad of Blind Love.” Witten by Steve Orlando, with art by Alessandro Amoruso, the story centers around a mob boss, who falls in love with Vampirella from afar. This leads to a misguided quest, as he tries to win her affections in the worst way possible.

Dynamite Originals has assembled an equally impressive roster of artists to provide the full-color covers for Vampirella: Black, White & Blood! Stjepan Šejić, Jae Lee, Joseph Michael Linsner, and Mirka Andolfo herself will each produce one cover for the comic. A Kickstarter drive will further support the series, allowing fans a chance to secure copies of all the collectible covers they want.

The Kickstarter for Vampirella: Black, White & Blood begins on April 16, 2024.
