The new Ultimate Universe was established with the Ultimate Invasion event. Since that time, a young Tony Stark has been trying to undo the work of The Maker and gathering allies. The first stages of how he does that are revealed in the opening pages of The Ultimates #1.
Written by Deniz Camp, with art by Juan Frigeri, the book picks up where Ultimate Universe #1 ended. Tony has secured the aid of this world’s Reed Richards (aka Doctor Doom), Sif, and Thor. They have recovered the still-frozen Captain America, and now have access to time travel technology. Unfortunately, Thor is wounded following their first battle, and they’ve been branded as terrorists by the Maker’s allies. Yet this is only the start of their problems.

How The Ultimates Are Restoring This Marvel Universe
The exact details of Tony’s plans are not revealed in the preview. However, something of his methods has been revealed in the pages of Ultimate Spider-Man. Tony has been shown reaching out to those, like Peter Parker, who were meant to become superheroes. It was also revealed, in Ultimate Spider-Man #5, that Tony has been approaching some villains as well. The new Shocker, for instance, was revealed to have stolen his gear after stumbling across the body of the man meant to receive his tech. While the dead man is not identified, it is possible he is the Herman Schultz of Earth-6160.
The cover of The Ultimates #1 suggests that Ant-Man and the Wasp will be the next recruits to the team. Beyond that, there are few limits as to who might be recruited in the war against the Maker. This sets the stage for an epic conflict and a new spin on Marvel’s greatest characters.
The Ultimates #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on June 5, 2024.
