Pulp Icons Green Hornet and Miss Fury Team for First Time

The Green Hornet and Miss Fury are two of the most iconic detective heroes of all time. Dynamite Entertainment has been publishing the continuing adventures of both characters for many years. Now, for the first time ever in any medium, the two will team up, in a new miniseries by writers Alex Segura and Henry Barajas.

“I have a soft spot for two things – writing pulp heroes I grew up reading as a kid, and working with my friends,” Segura said. “So when Dynamite approached me to take this series on, I instantly knew who I wanted to pair with. Henry and I have been brainstorming Green Hornet ideas for a while now, and this felt like the perfect springboard to not only spotlight the iconic hero, but put him up against one of the true classic heroines of comics, Miss Fury.”

Miss Fury is notable as the first female superhero created by a woman, the legendary June Tarpé Mills. Her adventures were detailed in a Sunday comic strip throughout the 1940s. Despite her popularity, she never made the leap into radio, TV, and movies, like Green Hornet. However, she is still remembered as one of the defining heroines of the Golden Age of Comics.

Green Hornet/Miss Fury a “Bronze Age-style romp”

The Green Hornet/Miss Fury #1 is set firmly in the middle of the swinging sixties. However, it will maintain the neo-noir spirit common to both characters. It will also feature the art of rising star artist Federico Sorressa.

The story will find the two heroes discovering they share an ally in their mentor, the Silver Shrike. However, when the Silver Shrike turns up dead, Green Hornet and Miss Fury must put aside their differences to catch the killer. Unfortunately, their drastically different styles of crime-fighting soon have them butting heads. Still, they must work together, particularly after they uncover a plot that threatens every “mask” in the world.

The Green Hornet/Miss Fury #1 will appear in comic shops everywhere in November 2024.
