2014 may be winding down, but the future of entertainment on both the big and small screens is looking awfully bright with news breaking this week about plans for Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2, Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning’s Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and the upcoming zombie television series that will serve as a spinoff of AMC’s hit “The Walking Dead.”
ComingSoon.net broke news of the Beetlejuice 2 development. In an interview with Burton about his latest, Big Eyes, the director revealed that the followup to the 1988 comedy is “closer than ever” and it appears that both Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are expecting to reprise their roles. Will a sequel work more than 25 years later?
On the Pirates front, Orlando Bloom has just revealed that he may be back for the July 7, 2017 sequel (currently in pre-production), also calling the film a “reboot.” What does that mean for the continuing adventures of Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow?
Finally, it was announced that the long-awaited “The Walking Dead” spinoff (still without an official title) will take place in Los Angeles. What does that mean for the storyline?
