NECA Makes an Action Figure of The Thing Movie Poster

It’s not necessarily a character who actually appears like that in the movie. But the image on the poster of John Carpenter’s The Thing is instantly recognizable. Presumably so as not to spoil the monster’s appearance, it implies an alien inside via a bright light coming from beneath the hood. And now, as a Comic-Con exclusive, NECA‘s making The Thing movie poster into an action figure.

The unidentified Thing clone features a light-up “face,” as well as a removable refraction piece of light rays to directly duplicate the poster style. It comes in an opening window box like most NECA Ultimates, and costs $50. For anyone unable to attend the show, NECA will announce an online on-sale date for leftovers some time this upcoming week. They’ll do likewise with their other exclusives, including a TMNT pre-mutation 4-pack and Dungeons and Dragons figure set.

This is technically the first monster figure, in NECA’s The Thing line, which previously only featured versions of Kurt Russell’s RJ MacReady. The company has shown some images of a dog monster, but not yet announced a formal release.
