Diamond Select The Walking Dead Series 2 Figures

As much as fans may grumble that The Walking Dead oversaturated TV with too many spinoffs, the fact remains that the license is lucrative — and the merchandise eternal. Even in a real zombie apocalypse, Walking Dead stuff would likely still be available.

McFarlane Toys are bringing back their old 5-inch figures, but Diamond will be taking the lead in the 7-inch scale for now. In doing so, they’ll do one part of the license McFarlane never did in that scale — comic-based black-and-white figures.

Rick and Michonne will come first in November, but wave 2, for the second quarter of 2025, has just been announced, giving us Negan and a walker. The walker is something of an army-builder figure, with interchangeable parts to mix and match your own. Negan, of course, includes his signature baseball bat Lucille, as well as two different facial expressions.

Dead City may not be based on a specific storyline in the comics, but clearly Diamond are using its existence to create the awareness to make the related characters. With walkers and Negan, stage your own comic-book scenarios based on the show, rather than the other way around. Note that while the official images appear to show two walker figures, it’s just the one that comes in a package, with additional hat, head, and limbs.

Preorders are up now, with each figure costing $29.99. They shouldn’t be too hard to find in stores, though, so don’t give yourself a headache looking for them; Negan can do that all by himself. The walkers are likely to sell out faster, by virtue of being army builders and 7-inch black and white zombies, which can appeal to all horror fans regardless of whether or not they read Robert Kirkman comics.

Here are a few more official photos of the figures:
