David Harbour may still be feeling some of the heat from the poorly-received Hellboy reboot. However, that filmās critical lashing hasnāt dissuaded him from revisiting the superhero genre. Itās been almost three months since we first learned that Harbour would co-star alongside Scarlett Johansson in Marvel Studiosā Black Widow. Although it still isnāt clear who heās playing in the film, Harbour seems to be having the time of his life in the MCU.
Harbour previously suggested that the moviegoing publicās apparent preference for Marvel movies was partially to blame for Hellboyās failure. But while speaking with ComicBook.com, he had nothing but good things to say about the studio heads who put those movies together.
āYeah, yeah. Those movies, thereās a reason why they are the zeitgeist that they are,ā said Harbour. āThe guys that Iāve met over there who are making these movies, like [Louis] DāEsposito and [Kevin] Feige, they just seem like the best in the business in a certain way in terms of that particular thing.ā

Additionally, Harbour insisted that the filmmakersā passion for the characters and the universe are what allows these movies to succeed in the first place.
āThe great thing about them and about all the people that work on these movies is that it really feels like an amateur movie, and I donāt mean this in terms of a negative thing,ā added Harbour. āAmateur stems from the word āamo,ā to love. People just doing it for the love of it as opposed to just doing it for a paycheck and thatās really what it feels like. It feels like these guys just love, love, love movies, and they want to make fun, exciting movies.ā
Production on Black Widow began in Norway at the end of May. It seems likely that more concrete details (including the identity of Harbourās character) will be announced at Marvel Studiosā panel at San Diego Comic-Con next month.
