The latest collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony will cross $100 million today before the final two days of the holiday weekend. It’s anyone’s guess where it will land from there. Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man for the sequel. He’s joined by Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones, with Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and Marisa Tomei as May Parker. Martin Starr and J. B. Smoove play Peter’s teachers, Roger Harrington and Julius Dell. MCU veterans Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Jon Favreau also reprise their respective roles as Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and Happy Hogan. Jake Gyllenhaal makes his MCU debut as Quentin Beck a.k.a. Mysterio.
Jon Watts directed the film from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal were the primary producers.
