The Stoners Are Back in the New Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Trailer

Following a string of, erm, shall we say “out-there” horror comedies, Kevin Smith is finally returning to his View Askewniverse. The writer/director/actor/superfan has just premiered the new trailer for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.

The film features the long-awaited return of Jason Mewes and Smith as the title characters. The premise is simple: Hollywood is rebooting Bluntman and Chronic, the comic book based on Jay and Silent Bob’s likenesses. Although the series last got the big-screen treatment in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back in 2001 with Jason Biggs and James Van Der Beek headlining, it looks like this new version is making some significant changes to the source material. For one thing, it features a female Chronic, played by none other than Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist. She’ll star opposite Val Kilmer as the new Bluntman. Just like last time, Jay and Silent Bob set out to stop the movie from happening.

Since this is a Kevin Smith film, expect plenty f-bombs, penis jokes, and more geek references than you can shake a bluntsaber at. Smith has also recruited several other big names to make their Askewniverse debut in the movie. Some of the newcomers include Craig Robinson, David Dastmalchian, Joe Manganiello, Justin Long, Fred Armisen, and Chris Hemsworth. Of course, we’ll also see familiar faces like Shannon Elizabeth (Justice), Jason Lee (Brodie Bruce), Ben Affleck (Holden McNeil), and Matt Damon (Loki) reprising their roles from prior films. Additionally, Smith’s daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, will co-star as Jay and Justice’s love child. We’ll even see Biggs and Van Der Beek appear to offer their two cents about the Bluntman and Chronic reboot.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot arrives in theaters on October 15. You can check out the red band trailer below, then tell us what you think in the comment section!
