Martin Freeman Confirms His Return For Black Panther 2

While it may take a few years, Black Panther‘s sequel is still heading to the big-screen. Ryan Coogler is set to write and direct Black Panther 2 with Chadwick Boseman reprising his title role. Martin Freeman made his MCU debut as Everett K. Ross alongside Boseman’s Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War. Freeman returned for Black Panther, and according to the actor, he’ll be back for the sequel as well.

“As far as I know, I will be (returning),” Freeman told Collider. “As far as I know, I will be in another Black Panther. That’s my understanding. As to when that will happen, I don’t know.”

Black Panther 2 was confirmed during Marvel’s Comic-Con panel, even though it’s not on the Phase 4 schedule. Kevin Feige noted shortly after that the sequel would likely be part of Phase 5. That means the earliest it would hit theaters is 2022.

Ross played a pivotal part in the original Black Panther, which debuted in theaters back in February 2018. It became a huge hit with audiences, making $700 million domestically and over $1.3 billion worldwide overall. Coogler signed on for a sequel soon thereafter.

Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett are likely to return in Black Panther 2 as well. However, they aren’t currently confirmed.
