Worldwide, Joker has grossed approximately $850 million and become the highest grossing R-rated movie.
Via Deadline, Maleficent didn’t go down without a fight. Mistress of Evil pulled in $18.5 million for second place. Those numbers may change when the final tally comes in on Monday. Regardless, both Disney and Warner Bros. project that Joker will remain in the top spot. Meanwhile, The Addams Family animated film leapfrogged over Zombieland: Double Tap. Their battle for #3 and #4 was also tight, as The Addams Family had $11.6 million while Double Tap had $11.5 million. Rounding out the top five was Countdown, with $9 million.
