Gabriel Luna Comments on Ghost Rider’s Possible Future

A few years ago, Gabriel Luna joined the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s fourth season as Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider and instantly became one of the series’ breakout characters. So when Marvel announced last year that they were developing a spinoff headlined by his character, fans were thrilled. Unfortunately, those plans came crashing down as Hulu wound up passing on the series. Some viewers have held out hope that we still might see Robbie’s demonic alter-ego again someday. But for now, it seems like Luna himself is trying to let them down easy.

While speaking with ComicBook.com, Luna once again discussed on the series’ fate and whether a revival is possible. He suggested that the door isn’t completely closed on his return. However, Luna also feels that it’s better to let it rest for the time being.

“I was gearing up for Ghost Rider for some time, a few years now, just on hold, waiting,” said Luna. “So I guess there’s not much hope holding out. I think it’s mainly, I know maybe there’s still couple of pages that are … the binding of the book is not really closed. But for me, personally, I think that, you leave it where it was. We put our heart into it and I’m really happy because I think a lot of people, I’m happy that there’s a whole generation of young people, [they know] Ghost Rider is Robbie Reyes.”

“And I think that won’t change, whether we do another show or not,” continued Luna. “I think that that’s something that’ll always make me very proud. So you just leave that where it is. I’m really excited to see what the future holds and what we’re working on now and see what happens.”

Ghost Rider was supposed to be the first in a line of shows marketed under Marvel’s “Adventure Into Fear” banner. The project ultimately stalled due to creative differences between the producers and the streaming service. However, Hulu is still expected to premiere the Helstrom series later this year.
