This summer, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will expand its presence into Disney Parks when Avengers Campus hits Disney’s California Adventure. Before its grand opening, Kevin Feige will join Parks chairman Bob Chapek for a presentation at this year’s SXSW festival. Via Newsarama, the pair will speak as part of an hour-long panel titled “Technology + Storytelling = Magic (Experiential Storytelling).”
It sounds like the panel will explore new advances in theme park development. As anyone who’s ventured to a Disney Park in recent years can attest, patrons can essentially become characters in their own stories when visiting any of Disney’s themed lands. Both Feige and Chapek will offer an inside look at the work that goes into making these dreams a reality.

The official description reads, “Today’s technological revolution is changing the game when it comes to experiential storytelling, and Disney is staying ahead of the curve by leveraging emerging tech to revolutionize the Guest Experience. In this conversation, Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, will be joined by Kevin Feige, President, Marvel Studios, and Chief Creative Officer, Marvel, and Disney Imagineers to give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at some of the incredible innovations Disney uses to bring stories to life at destinations around the world.”
Disney has already previewed some of the technological marvels (no pun intended) that they’re bringing to Avengers Campus. Just last month, the company shared the first look at an animatronic Spider-Man that will swing above the park’s rooftops. Additionally, Disneyland Hong Kong is already home to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle. That attraction utilizes cutting-edge holographic tech to make riders feel like they’re actually fighting alongside the title characters.
Feige and Chapek’s panel will take place on March 13 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Are you excited to hear what they have to say at SXSW this year? Let us know in the comment section below!
