The novel coronavirus pandemic has already forced films like Black Widow, Wonder Woman 1984, The New Mutants, and No Time To Die IGNto retreat from their release dates. But with no end to the pandemic in sight, Sony Pictures is also moving its marquee summer movies to 2021. Via IGN, the upcoming sequel, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, has been pushed from July 10 to March 5, 2021.
Additionally, the adaptation of Marvel’s Morbius the Living Vampire will now hit theaters on March 19, 2021. The film’s original release date was July 31, just a few weeks after Afterlife‘s date. Since the new date is also two weeks after Afterlife‘s debut, Sony must not be worried about either film cannibalizing its audience.

Sony’s untitled (and currently unnamed) Marvel movie has also been shifted from its October 8, 2021 date without getting a new slot. Additionally, the Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland will now take over the October 8, 2021 release date. It’s also worth noting that Sony did not delay Venom 2 from its October 2, 2020. For now, Sony is hoping that the crisis will have passed by then.
