The COVID-19 outbreak forced 20th Century Fox to delay their scheduled filming for James Cameron’s Avatar sequels to a date yet to be confirmed. Yet, the company is still working hard to pump up the fans for the back-to-back sequels to the 2009’s blockbuster. Recently, producer Jon Landau took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes photo from the Site 26 Shack set. The still features Landau together with Sigourney Weaver and Joel David Moore.
“Had a chance to go through some photographs from production of the Avatar sequels,” Landau wrote. “Thought I would start off by sharing one of me with Sigourney Weaver and Joel David Moore back in the Site 26 Shack set for some scenes for the new movies. More to come.”

Fox/Disney has planned to film four back-to-back sequels to 2009’s epic science fiction blockbuster. The first sequel will — supposedly — debut in theaters in December 2021. At the moment, the Avatar sequels should follow their release schedule planned by Disney. But given the current global health emergency, it may take some additional time for fans to return on Pandora. More filming should have started recently in New Zealand, but Landau revealed that production will move forward in Los Angeles for now.
A lot of details about the sequels are still under wraps. However, Avatar creator James Cameron recently revealed some concept art for the upcoming sequel, featuring the Na’vi dealing with some of their characteristic activities as well as some lush islands.
Avatar 2 is still tentatively set to hit theaters in December 2021. What do you expect from the Avatar sequels? Let us know in the comments section below.
