Although Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt’s Jungle Cruise team up has been pushed back to 2021, the duo are already planning their next project. Deadline is reporting that the actors will co-star in Ball and Chain, based on the comic of the same name.
Scott Lobdell, Alé Garza, and Richard Bennett published Ball and Chain through Homage Comics (an imprint of Wildstorm) in 1999. The four-issue miniseries centered on Edgar and Mallory Bulson, an unhappily married couple nearing a divorce when a meteor strike gave them superhuman abilities. Johnson and Blunt will play Edgar and Mallory in the film,

Emily V. Gordon is writing the screenplay for Ball and Chain. Gordon and her husband, Kumail Nanjiani, were nominated for an Oscar for writing The Big Sick in 2017. She has also written for HBO’s Crashing and Apple TV+’s Little America. Apparently, the buzz surrounding Ball and Chain is strong enough to have piqued several studios’ interest. However, Netflix is reportedly the top contender to land a deal for the movie.
