Not only is there a lot of DCEU news coming from Zack Snyder — who has finally got the chance to work on the fabled Snyder Cut of Justice League — but also David Ayer, who seems to have broken silence on many topics. Recently, the Suicide Squad director took to Twitter to share a fan-made artwork that compares many comic images of the Joker with Jared Leto’s poses as Gotham’s Clown Prince of Crime. Ayer wanted to underline that, despite some fans’ accusations, his work was comic book accurate.
Amazing. Tracks exactly with how I built the looks – “Not comic book accurate” ??? I cant. ?♂️ https://t.co/6WAGSXpTzT

Indeed, the resemblance between Leto’s Joker and his comic book counterpart is impressive. Still, not many fans seem to have caught all these similarities when Suicide Squad was released back in 2016. To be fair, the tattoos and metal teeth were a bit distracting.

And speaking of Jared Leto’s interpretation as Joker, a few days ago, the director implied also that fans had seen nothing of it. Per Ayer, producers “ripped” out of his feature Leto’s real potential.
“Jared was pretty mistreated during this,” he wrote. “No one has seen his performance. It was ripped out of the movie.”

Ayer is trying these days to ride the wave of the success of the fans asking for the Snyder Cut release. So far, though, HBO Max’s officials don’t seem very interested in releasing the David Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad. In the meantime, Warner Bros. is going to do a soft reboot of the franchise. Next year, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will hit theaters on August 6, if everything proceeds on schedule.
