Fifteen years ago, director Christopher Nolan began his Dark Knight trilogy with Christian Bale as the star of Batman Begins and its sequels. This summer, Nolan’s Tenet features the next Batman, Robert Pattinson, in a supporting role. Earlier this month, Pattinson admitted that he tried to hide his audition for The Batman from Nolan during filming. However, once the truth was out, Pattinson largely avoided the topic of Batman.
Via Heroic Hollywood, Nolan told CNA that Pattinson didn’t ask him for any Batman guidance. Regardless, Nolan is excited to see what Pattinson can do in the part.
“He certainly did not ask me for any advice,” noted Nolan. “We kept a respectful silence around the issue until very near the end of the shoot. We said a couple of things and made a couple of jokes. We did have a little bit of a conversation about the various aspects of what he was going to be putting himself through. But I was thrilled that he was cast, and I think he’ll do an amazing job. I’m really excited to see what he does with that character.”

At DC FanDome, fans got an early glimpse of Pattinson as the Dark Knight in The Batman‘s first teaser. However, only 25% of the film was completed before the coronavirus pandemic shutdown. Warner Bros. may resume filming The Batman next month.
