Official Dune Trailer Offers the Best Look Yet at Arrakis

In a few months, the brand new adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune will debut in theaters. And now, Warner Bros. has finally released the official trailer for the upcoming sci-fi movie. The video focuses on Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides, a young hero whose journey to become a great ruler will bring him to the desert planet Arrakis. Fans of the book will immediately recognize the scene in which the Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother tests Paul with a nerve induction device.

The trailer also features some cool footage of the planet Arrakis itself. One of the peculiarities of this planet is that gigantic sandworms inhabit it. Yes, fans have been treated with plenty of footage of them in the trailer. The video offers a better look also at Jason Momoa’s Duncan Idaho, Zendaya’s Chani, and many other of the iconic Dune characters.

The upcoming film will cover only the story from the first half of Herbert’s novel, and it wouldn’t be too surprising to hear of a sequel greenlighted soon. Fans are hoping that director Denis Villeneuve’s feature will go even bigger than the 1984 film by David Lynch, or John Harrison’s miniseries which premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel back in 2020. All the elements are there for a new and compelling sci-fi epic saga.

The cast for the Dune movie includes Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, as well as Stellan Skarsgard and Charlotte Rampling.

According to Warner Bros.’ current plans, Dune will hit theaters on December 18.
