Nearly a decade ago, Patty Jenkins was going to direct Thor: The Dark World for Marvel Studios and Disney. However, Jenkins left the project over creative differences and found greater success on Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman movies. Regardless, it looks like Wonder Woman 3 is going to have to wait, because Jenkins has rejoined the Disney family to helm a new Star Wars movie.
During the Disney Investor Day presentation, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy announced that Jenkins will direct Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. As the name suggests, the focus will fall on Rogue Squadron, a group of X-Wing pilots for the Rebel Alliance. Within the original trilogy, Luke Skywalker was one of the Rogue Squadron pilots in the first Death Star run. Subsequently, Wedge Antilles emerged as Rogue Squadron’s point man.
