Lionsgate Pushes Chaos Walking’s Release Date to March

Add another chapter to the never-ending saga of the upcoming Chaos Walking sci-fi movie. The long-gestating adaptation of The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness won’t hit the big screens before Mar. 5. According to Variety, Lionsgate has decided to delay the movie again, from its most recent Jan. 22 release date. The report doesn’t indicate an official motivation, but the decision likely came due to the ongoing pandemic. The long-delayed upcoming sci-fi action thriller will feature Tom Holland working together with Star Wars heroine Daisy Ridley. The movie started shooting back in 2017 and had to undergo some key reshoots. Commitments to the two leads’ more famous franchises prevented those from happening till 2019.

Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) directed the movie, written by Patrick Ness together with Christopher Ford. The official synopsis of Chaos Walking reads:

“In the not too distant future, Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland) discovers Viola (Daisy Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by ‘the Noise’ – a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola’s life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets.”

The Chaos Walking cast also features Mads Mikkelsen, Demián Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, Kurt Sutter, and David Oyelowo.
