Zack Snyder’s Justice League: More Jared Leto Joker Details Revealed

WARNING: Some scene-specific spoilers for Zack Snyder’s Justice League ahead!

It’s not much of a secret that Zack Snyder insisted on having Jared Leto’s Joker in his upcoming Justice League. The director thought that the character had so much potential that he decided to shoot some extra scenes to involve him in his long-awaited extended cut. While talking with Vanity Fair, Snyder revealed that Gotham’s Clown Prince of Crime would appear in a dream sequence where he will confront Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne. According to the director, Joker appears after Darkseid invaded and decimated the planet as a warning for the Dark Knight about what’s going to happen if he doesn’t stop the evil from spreading.

“The cool thing about the scene is that it’s Joker talking directly to Batman about Batman,” Snyder said. “It’s Joker analyzing Batman about who he is and what he is. That’s the thing I also felt like fans deserved from the DC Universe. That is to say, the Jared Leto Joker and the Ben Affleck Batman, they never really got together. It seemed uncool to me that we would make it all the way through this incarnation of Batman and Joker without seeing them come together.”

The movie’s official account also shared a closer look at Batman’s nemesis. You can check it here below.

Snyder added that the scene would also explain some mysteries from 2016’s Batman v Superman, including why Bruce had the Joker card taped to his gun. The new scene might also reveal some details about Robin’s death, but that topic was ultimately meant be fully-addressed in another movie Snyder had in mind.

“I’d always wanted to explore the death of Robin,” Snyder said. “And if there ever was going to be a next movie, which, of course, there probably won’t be, I wanted to do a thing where in flashbacks we learn how Robin died, how Joker killed him and burned down Wayne Manor, and that whole thing that happened between he and Bruce.”
