Steppenwolf Welcomes Darkseid in New Zack Snyder’s Justice League Promo

The Dark Lord of Apokolips finally gets his due in the latest preview for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. All week long, the Snyder Cut’s official Twitter page has been sharing new promos spotlighting the film’s five main heroes. But now, it’s the villains’ turn to show off. Snyder has just premiered a new teaser that reveals new footage of Steppenwolf and Darkseid. You can check it out for yourself below.

The latest promo also features some booming voiceover work from both Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) and Darkseid (Ray Porter) as they wreak havoc on multiple worlds alongside their army on Parademons. Presumably, Snyder’s version of the movie will feature his own version of the flashback montage from the film’s theatrical cut, where Diana recounts Steppenwolf’s backstory to Bruce Wayne and explains how civilizations from all over the world united to defeat him the last time he tried to conquer Earth using the Mother Boxes. We even get to see a mysterious Green Lantern flying around in the sky at the 45-second mark.

Snyder’s Justice League notably features a completely redesigned Steppenwolf. However, fans are probably more excited to see Darkseid, who was famously left on the cutting room floor after Joss Whedon took over the movie. Because he was meant to have a bigger role in a Justice League sequel, it’s not clear how much screen time Darkseid will have (or if he will even appear in any present day scenes). But so far, it looks like the filmmakers managed to do the character justice.

Additionally, HBO Max has also given Darkseid his own character poster, which you can view below. Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be available to stream next Thursday, March 18.
