It’s been months since Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings wrapped production. Regardless, a last minute casting addition has been made to the film. Deadline is reporting that Dallas Liu will appear in the movie opposite Simu Liu’s (no relation) master of kung-fu. However, the nature of Liu’s role remains a mystery.
Hulu subscribers might recognize Liu from PEN15, where he has played Shuji Ishii-Peters since the series debuted in 2019. Some of his other TV credits include Players and Legendary Dudas. Liu also has a few video game adaptations to his name. He appeared in the 2010 Tekken movie as a young Jin Kazama. Two years later, he guest-starred on an episode of Machinima’s Mortal Kombat: Legacy series as a young Bi-Han/Sub Zero.

Marvel has yet to release any footage or stills from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. However, the studio’s biggest concern right now is probably whether the movie will make its current September release date. Earlier this month, the film was forced to give its recent July 9 slot to Black Widow, which will also hit Disney+ (with a $30 premium fee) day-and-date with theaters. Marvel subsequently moved Shang-Chi to September 3.
Destin Daniel Cretton directed Shang-Chi from a script written by Dave Callaham. The movie also stars Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Florian Munteanu, Ronny Chieng, and Michelle Yeoh.
