Christina Ricci Confirmed To Appear In The Matrix 4

Over the weekend, Collider broke the story that Christina Ricci will appear in The Matrix 4. However, the official confirmation was slow to arrive. Now, Deadline is also reporting that Ricci will be in the cast. The original source is a press kit from Warner Bros. Pictures itself.

Ricci’s role in the film hasn’t been disclosed. Regardless, Deadline noted that this will be Ricci’s second time working with director Lana Wachowski. She previously appeared as Trixie in the Wachowski sibling’s Speed Racer adaptation. Ricci is also well-known for her portrayal of Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family and its sequel. Her other notable films include Sleepy Hollow, Black Snake Moan, and Cursed. More recently, Ricci had a starring role in Z: The Beginning of Everything.

The Matrix 4 will bring back Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity despite their apparent deaths in The Matrix Revolutions. Original trilogy stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson, and Lambert Wilson will also reprise their respective roles as Niobe, The Merovingian, and Agent Johnson.

However, the primary action may fall to a new generation of humans and programs. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jessica Henwick headline the cast of newcomers. Telma Hopkins, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, and Brian J. Smith will also appear in the film.

The Matrix 4 will hit HBO Max and theaters on December 22.
