The Transformers: The Movie Returns to Theaters For Its 35th Anniversary

It’s been 35 years since the Autobots defeated Unicron and saved their home planet, Cybertron. And pretty soon, fans will be able to experience their victory on the big screen once again. Via CBR), Fathom Events is bringing The Transformers: The Movie back to theaters for two nights in September.

The film originally premiered in 1986 and featured most of the voice cast from the animated series reprising their roles. It also notably featured the last onscreen performances of Orson Welles (Unicron) and Scatman Cruthers (Jazz). Earlier this year, Shout! Factory announced that it was releasing a new 4K remaster of the movie in a limited edition SteelBook case, which hits stores next month.

“Fathom is thrilled to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the release of The Transformers: The Movie in partnership with Hasbro,” said Fathom CEO Ray Nutt in a statement. “It’s exciting to give the fans of this cult classic an opportunity to see this film on the big screen, the way it was meant to be seen.”
