Spider-Man: No Way Home is trending big-time on social media as of publication time. But not for any reason that makes Sony happy. Indeed, as reported by THR, the studio has been firing off statements of copyright violation, along with cease-and-desists, as swiftly as Peter Parker slings webs. The trailer, widely expected to debut this week at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, escaped a little early, and a lot unfinished. In one version on TikTok, the trailer was shown on somebody’s portable device as filmed by someone else with a phone camera. And images of certain characters with blue-screen style spots on their costumes, as well as unfinished CG, made clear this will not be the final version.
Without spoiling anything about it, however, we can say the footage looks all-new and seems legit. Not a fan fake, in other words. There’s little doubt both Marvel and Sony would prefer fans to experience it in final form, rather than what might appear to be an effects house bootleg.

Part of the reason for the trailer delay might involve a wait-and-see attitude regarding box office. Venom: Let There Be Carnage just bumped its release date again. Black Widow‘s grosses disappointed enough for Scarlett Johansson to sue. And in just a couple of weeks, we’ll see how Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings fares. Could Sony be thinking about bumping Spider-Man to next year? It’s not impossible.
In the meantime, synopses of the trailer will likely linger out there. But we recommend waiting for the real thing, with completed CG…and it should surface very soon. The moment the official one sees release, Superhero Hype will post it.
What do you expect from the new trailer? Let us know in comments.
