Yet another recognizable face is checking into The Haunted Mansion. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has cast Owen Wilson in the upcoming reboot based on the studio’s long-running theme park ride.
Details about Wilson’s character are scarce. However, he joins a cast that already includes LaKeith Stanfield and Tiffany Haddish, both of whom joined the project back in July. Stanfield is headlining the film as a former believer in the supernatural who has since moved onto working as a disillusioned tour guide in New Orleans. Meanwhile, Haddish is co-starring as a psychic medium. THR also says the reboot will be “ensemble in nature,” so it’s a safe bet that the producers are looking for more big names to fill the movie’s call sheet.
Wilson recently garnered praise for his role as Agent Mobius in Marvel’s Loki series on Disney+. Earlier this year, he acted opposite Salma Hayek in Amazon’s Bliss. Next up, he’ll appear in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, which finally hits theaters next month.

Justin Simien is directing The Haunted Mansion from a screenplay by Katie Dippold. It was initially reported that the movie would begin its shoot in Louisiana later this year. However, it sounds like the studio is moving its production to Atlanta, with an eye to start rolling in October.
Disney still hasn’t announced a release date for The Haunted Mansion.
