While the box office is slowly returning to a semi-normal state, the era of movie delays isn’t over yet. Via The Wrap, Walt Disney Pictures has pushed back its entire slate of Marvel’s 2022 films. Additionally, the next Indiana Jones film has also been delayed.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was originally going to hit theaters in March 2022. Regardless, Disney is now pushing it to May 6, 2022. The first week of May is traditionally the slot for Marvel’s biggest movie of the year. However, Disney’s decision to move Doctor Strange 2 means that Thor: Love and Thunder is no longer in the prime spot. Instead, the fourth Chris Hemsworth-led Thor movie will strike theaters on July 8, 2022.

Like a domino, that pushes Black Panther: Wakanda Forever out of its release date. That film also has a new date: November 11, 2022. And in turn, this will push the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, to February 17, 2023. Additionally, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has been shifted to a July 28, 2023 release date.
Most of those delays are just a few months. By contrast, the fifth and final Indiana Jones film has been pushed back an entire year. The new release date for Indiana Jones 5 is June 30, 2023.
