REPORT: Mega Man Live-Action Movie May Be Coming To Netflix

Earlier this month, an update on production company Supermarché’s website led fans to believe that co-founders Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman’s long-in-the-works Mega Man film was heading to Netflix. Now, an IGN report indicates that after more than four years in development, Capcom’s pint-sized robot superhero is heading to the streaming service for his live-action debut.

Mega Man has been one of Capcom’s top-selling franchises ever since his very first video game in 1987. Originally built to assist his creator, Dr. Thomas Light, he was later repurposed to fight evil robots built by Light’s former colleague, Dr. Wily. Over the years, Mega Man has gone on the headline several additional sequels and spinoffs. He has also appeared in his own Japanese animated series and even a few Archie Comics as well.

The Mega Man movie was originally set up at 20th Century Studios. Joost and Schulman, (Catfish and Project Power), were announced as the film’s co-writers and directors in 2017. This latest announcement marks the first concrete bit of news about the film in a long time. Regardless, IGN’s sources indicate that the movie is “still very early in development.”
