While the same fans who vocally clamored for Zack Snyder’s Justice League on social media also want Warner Bros. to still make “The Batfleck Movie,” it doesn’t sound like they have the backing of Ben Affleck himself. Though the star will return to the cape in the upcoming The Flash movie, it sounds like that will be the final hurrah. And a way to segue the role into a different actor. As most fans know, the upcoming The Batman would at one time have been his star vehicle, but the actor stepped away. And in a recent interview with The Playlist, Affleck says that he’s done with all franchise filmmaking. For now, anyway.
“I don’t want to do IP movies, where you have this sort of built-in audience,” he says. “That’s something I was interested in and liked, and I just don’t like anymore. I like other people who do it. And if you are going to do it, you should love it. And I love something different. So, I want to do that.”

Since portraying Batman, Affleck has gotten some of the best reviews of his career, in movies like The Way Back and The Last Duel. And while he won over many skeptics as Batman in the Zack Snyder movies, acting awards nominations for movies that don’t involve heavy latex costumes must feel satisfying.
Still, Affleck said he was done before, and came back for The Flash. He even said he had a great time doing it. We may never see him star in a superhero movie again, but just like in Kevin Smith’s View Askew movies, brief visits might not seem unthinkable.
