A sequel to Man of Steel is something that DC fans (and even Henry Cavill himself) have been wanting for years. Regardless, two completely different Kryptonians might be heading back to theaters before Clark Kent does. Warner Bros. UK’s official website recently unveiled the studio’s full list of 2022 releases. And surprisingly, The Flash’s listing mentions roles for Michael Shannon and Antje Traue, who previously starred as General Zod and Faora in Man of Steel.
The Flash will loosely adapt DC’s Flashpoint storyline, which saw Barry Allen create a new reality after going back in time and trying to stop his mother’s murder. The film’s journey through the multiverse will notably feature appearances by two big-screen Batmen. Michael Keaton is reprising his role as Bruce Wayne from Tim Burton’s Batman franchise, while Ben Affleck is returning as the Snyderverse version of the character. However, this is the first we’ve heard about Shannon and Traue coming back as well. And if they’re set to make an appearance, can Cavill be far behind?

Superman memorably killed Zod at the end of Man of Steel. But if the new listing is accurate, The Flash won’t be Shannon’s first return trip to the DCEU. His character’s corpse was later seen in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and used to create a new incarnation of Doomsday. Traue, on the other hand, hasn’t appeared since Man of Steel, where her character was sent to the Phantom Zone.
The Flash will zoom into theaters on November 4, 2022.
How do you think Zod and Faora will factor into the movie’s story? Let us know in the comment section below!
