At this point, nothing can stop Spider-Man: No Way Home from reaching its box office milestones. The newly-released sequel, The Matrix Resurrections, has come up short, and Spidey will once again sail to an easy victory this weekend. Deadline is reporting that No Way Home cleared $1 billion worldwide today, and also passed the original Spider-Man film, which had a $407 million domestic take in 2002. Home passes.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is the previous worldwide champion in the franchise with $1.13 billion in 2019. That mark may fall by tomorrow or Monday. Currently, No Way Home‘s second domestic weekend box office is estimated at $92.3 million. And so far, there’s no serious challenger on the horizon in the weeks ahead.

The Matrix Resurrections was hampered in part by the simultaneous day-and-date release on HBO Max. Regardless, the new sequel is underperforming at the holiday box office. It has also debuted at number 3 with an estimated $14 million over the weekend, and a $24 million total since its release on Wednesday. Universal’s animated musical, Sing 2, is coming in second place this weekend with $22.76 million, which brings its five-day total to $40 million.
20th Century Studios/Disney’s The King’s Man came in at #4 with only $6.1 million over three days, and $9.7 million over five days. The remake of Westside Story wrapped up the fifth slot with $2.68 million over the weekend.
