The Batman Cast Get Riddler-Vandalized Character Posters

Evidently, “Unmask the truth” is the new “Why so serious?” Just as The Dark Knight‘s posters in 2008 featured the Joker’s new catchphrase frequently defacing their images, The Batman now gets its villain doing likewise. Warner Bros. today debuted a series of character posters featuring Batman, Catwoman, Penguin, and Riddler. And they all have one thing in common: they’ve been Riddler-vandalized with his new mission statement. Yes, even his own.

Ironically, perhaps intentionally so, Riddler himself boasts a more drastic, face-hiding mask than anyone else. Even Batman. While the character of Penguin never wears one, this poster offers the best look yet at the latex mask features worn by Colin Farrell. And he finally really does look like the villain he’s supposed to. As for Catwoman, here’s hoping she gets a better cowl than the ski-mask by movie’s end.

Based on the trailers, “Unmask the truth” appears to be a reference to dark secrets shared by the late Thomas Wayne. This has led fans to speculate that the Court of Owls will factor in to the Riddler’s Zodiac-like vendetta. We’ll find out in just over a month, on March 4th.

Take a look at all four Riddler-vandalized posters in our gallery below. Which one is your favorite? Let us know in comments.
