For the last few weeks, Dwayne Johnson has promoted today’s first trailer for Black Adam. And unlike the film itself, the trailer arrived on time this morning. In the following Tweet, Johnson acknowledged that this movie is his passion project. He’s been attached to play Black Adam since 2007, and the film fell into and out of development Hell during the intervening years. Now, it’s just a few months away.
Within the trailer, Teth-Adam is chosen by the ancient gods to be their champion. However, he is soon imprisoned and spends the next few thousand years locked away. But he’s free now. And he’s kinda pissed off.
As promised, our world premiere @BlackAdamMovie trailer.
This passion project has become my DNA and the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe will change.

This movie will also mark the big screen debut of the Justice Society of America. Regardless, we will only see four members of the JSA take on Black Adam: Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Kent Nelson/Doctor Fate. Sarah Shahi also co-stars in the film as Adrianna Tomaz, a Kahndaq resistance fighter with a strong link to Black Adam himself.
Black Adam will fly into theaters on October 21.
