Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has opened in theaters in several countries, which is leading to early fan reactions. While a lot of praise is going around, so is some incorrect speculation, such as that the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie featured Ewokese (naturally, the language spoken by Ewoks) in the movie.
If the Ewok language isn’t spoken, what fictional language is used in GOTG 3?
One excited fan thought he had heard Ewokese spoken in Guardians 3, which would’ve been a fun nod to the iconic Star Wars characters. However, director James Gunn was quick to correct the fan. Gunn and his team created a Humanimal language for the movie, which Gunn himself used and said, “Joob joob!”
Humanimals likely tie into Guardians 3 villain The High Evolutionary, who will be played by Chukwudi Iwuji. In the comics and other adaptations, the villain has a long history of experimenting on animals and turning them into half-human, half-animal beings — likely the aforementioned Humanimals.
The specifics change in each adaptation, such as in the classic X-Men: The Animated Series, the character attempts to use mutant DNA to turn humans into beast-like creatures. Similarly, in Spider-Man Unlimited, he creates a new society filled with hybrid creatures he calls Beastials.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now playing in theaters, although you sadly won’t hear any Ewokese.
