Director James Gunn has confirmed which character comedian and actor Pete Davidson played in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
What was Pete Davidson’s Guardians of the Galaxy role?
In the same tweet that Gunn discussed the character of Lambshank, the filmmaker revealed that Pete Davidson played Phlektik in the latest Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Phlektik is one of the High Evolutionary’s alien guards, which meant Davidson wore a mask for his cameo role. Gunn also posted a picture of himself, Chris Pratt, and Davidson together on the set.
This isn’t the first time Pete Davidson has worked with James Gunn on a superhero movie, as the comedian and former Saturday Night Live cast member also played the role of Richard Hertz/Blackguard in Gunn’s 2021 DC Studios movie The Suicide Squad. Blackguard was only in the first portion of the movie, along with other Gunn regulars like Michael Rooker.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was directed by James Gunn and was released in theaters on May 5. The sequel heavily features the backstory of Rocket — the armed and snarky raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper — and his history with the film’s villain, The High Evolutionary (played by Chukwudi Iwuji). Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now playing in theaters.
